WD-PWxxx and the train identification (TRAM & Lissy)
WD-PWxxx supports the infrared communication based feedback systems Lissy (Uhlenbrock),
train-navigation(Fleischmann) and TRAM (T4T). When using the TC-H0 coupling, the transmitter
for the infra red is automatically installed with the coupling and connected to the decoder. As the
coupling and thus the IR LED, or the individual IR diode without coupling, can be installed on ei-
ther end of the wagon, the sender is always at the front, regardless of the train direction! WD-
PWxxx therefore has two separate outputs for the installation of two IR transmitters (already built-
in the TC-H0).
Please note that when a new vehicle is added to the train set the transmitting station may have to
change, e.g. when a new car is added at the head of the train in direction of travel. The transmitter
will be activated only when the new wagon has been identified (see chapter "LD-1x and T4T Train
(TCCS)").
Note, that the IR-data needs to be transmitted permanently for the receiver to receive reliable data
of the vehicles that pass the receiving station. If this data is sent via WD-PWxxx or WD-GWx, the
uninterruptable power supply in the locomotive ensures that the IR transmitter receives data without
break, even with dirty rails. For senders which are not connected to the uninterruptable power sup-
ply, dirty track can lead to interruption and “missing” the train in an instance. In order to achieve
optimum use in this situation the TRAM format is sent via each coupling.
The fact that - thanks to the TCCS options - the locomotive-decoder LD-1x automatically activates
the IR-transmitting station that is located at the head of the train (considering the direction of travel)
is of utmost relevance. This can be a TC-H0 coupling, connected to a decoderLD-1x, or any other
coupling in the train, and then connected to WD-PWxxx or WD-GWx. The decoder automatically
recognizes which transmitting station has to be used. This is important for the correct halt of a vehi-
cles e.g. before a signal. Pushed trains always transmit their IR-data (any format) from the coupling
in the car at the head of the train (in direction of travel).
If the TC-H0 coupling is not used (e.g. on the front end of a steam locomo-
tive or rear wagon) a single IR transmitter (IR-Diode) can be fixed to the
underside of the vehicle and connected to a decoder (LD-1x or WD-xxx).
In analogy to the TC-H0-cable colours, the diode can be installed with white
or yellow cables.
Important advice:
Due to the fact that the previous described situations can also appear unintended, it is urgently rec-
ommended to use the subassembly TS-1 Protect.
Please, note the corresponding hints in the current manual to the LD-1x as well!
