Connections
VIDEO IN
Input for standard video signals
If you select the
AV1
video input, the video signals
present at this socket are digitised and passed to the
video monitor via HDMI or DVI.
S-VIDEO IN
Input for S-Video signals
If you select the
AV2
video input, the S-Video signals
present at this socket are digitised and passed to the
video monitor via HDMI or DVI.
COMP IN
Input for YUV Video signals
If you select the
AV3
video input, the YUV video
(component video) signals present at this socket are
digitised and passed to the video monitor via HDMI or
DVI.
SCART IN
Input for RGB and
Composite (FBAS) video signals
If you select the
AV4
video input, the video signals present
at this socket are digitised and passed to the video monitor
via HDMI or DVI.
Note:
If RGB and FBAS video signals are present at
the SCART socket, the
VSP 1250 R
automatically selects the higher-quality RGB
component signals.
Note
re.
to
In a
B
surround system which includes an
SR 1535 R
or
DD 1535 R
, the
VSP 1250 R
automatically selects the correct analogue
picture input (AV1 - AV4) when you select an
analogue picture source. This is achieved by
setting each picture source to the type of signal
appropriate to the device in the receiver’s or
decoder’s SETUP menu.
RS 232 / PROGRAM
Control socket for remote control of the
VSP 1250 R
, and
for integrating the unit into a networked multi-media
system.
Supplementary function:
Programming interface for software upgrades.
SCREEN LINK
Control interface for appropriately equipped Metz TV sets
and flat-screen televisions. These TV sets can also be
remote-controlled using the
B

handset.
DIGITAL AUDIO OUT
Digital audio outputs.
The
VSP 1250 R
is capable of de-coupling the sound
signals which are generated by HDMI source devices
and transferred via the HDMI interface. The de-coupled
sound signals are then present at the six (co-axial and
optical) DIGITAL AUDIO OUT sockets, from which they
can be passed to a surround receiver for further
decoding.
Note:
All the co-axial and optical DIGITAL AUDIO
OUT outputs of the
VSP 1250 R
are of equal
value, and always carry the same signal (the
sound signal from the currently selected HDMI
source).
Note:
Each source device which supplies sound via
HDMI must be connected to the surround
receiver using a separate digital audio cable.
The appropriate digital audio input of the
receiver must be assigned to the HDMI device.

diagrams in the chapter entitled

DIGITAL AUDIO IN
Digital audio input.
A digital audio signal connected to this socket is passed to
the HDMI OUT socket and on to a video monitor
connected to that socket (e.g. a monitor in an adjacent
room). If the monitor connected to the HDMI output is not
required to reproduce sound, this input can be left unused.
