Selecting the listening source
A brief press on a source button selects the corres-
ponding device as listening source. The signal from this
source is then reproduced by the system. If the system is
switched off, it is automatically switched on if you press a
source button.
You can only remotely control that device which is cur-
rently selected as the listening source. The listening
sources are selected using the following buttons on the
remote control handset:
CD 820 M
CD player
or
DVD 820 M
DVD
player

’s integral tuner
Source device connected to the pre-amplifier
input
AUX / PHONO
Toggles between the source devices which
are connected to the pre-amplifier inputs

Notes:
•
When you change sources, the newly selected
source is displayed briefly on the screen. The screen
then reverts to a device-specific standard display.

If your system includes an
MM
or
MC
module,
AUX / P
is the phono input.
•
The signal from the currently selected source is
present at the
TAPE
record outputs, and can be
recorded onto cassette or other form of tape.
Volume control
Every time you press one of the
VOLUME
buttons briefly, the volume is reduced (
-
) or
increased (
+
) by 1.5 dB.
If you hold one of the
VOLUME
buttons
pressed in for longer than about 1 second,
the volume changes continuously until you
release the button again.
The current volume level is displayed on the
screen briefly as a numeric value (0 … 63),
e. g.:

The loudspeaker outputs remain switched off
during the first few seconds after the system
is switched on, (power-on delay).
