Chapter 4 Testing and Configuring the TimeHub
Testing the NTP Cards
Verifying the Port A and Port B IP Addresses
This test sets the IP address, mask, and gateway for Port A and Port B on the NTP
Server card and verifies that the addresses are functioning properly.
1. Open a TL1 session with the TimeHub Management card using terminal
emulation software such as Procomm Plus or TeraTerm Pro, or from a Windows
command line. If you are already logged in, skip to step 4.
2. Type
telnet <timehub_ip_address> 7588
.
3. Log in to the TimeHub with a valid username and password:
ACT-USER:[<tid>]:<aid>:<ctag>::<pid>;
where <aid> is a valid username and <pid> is the valid password for that
username.
4. Set the NTP Server card’s IP address, mask and gateway for Port A and Port B.
Note that the IP addresses are not filtered.
ED-EQPT::Sa-OUTc:CTAG:::PPAIP=<ip_address>;
ED-EQPT::Sa-OUTc:CTAG:::PPAMASK=<subnet_mask>;
ED-EQPT::Sa-OUTc:CTAG:::PPAGATE=<gateway_ip>;
ED-EQPT::Sa-OUTc:CTAG:::PPBIP=<ip_address>;
ED-EQPT::Sa-OUTc:CTAG:::PPBMASK=<subnet_mask>;
ED-EQPT::Sa-OUTc:CTAG:::PPBGATE=<gateway_ip>;
where
a = shelf number 0 to 4 (0 = Master, 1 – 4 = Expansion)
b = NTP card group A – D on Master shelf, or
b = NTP card group A – H on Expansion shelf
<ipaddress> = desired IP address for the port
<subnet_mask> = desired subnet mask
<gateway_ip> = desired gateway IP address
5. Apply the changes to the NTP Server card:
ED-EQPT::Sa-OUTb:CTAG:::NTPPAIR=APPLYCFG;
where a and b are described in step 4.
6. Verify all the port settings:
RTRV-EQPT::Sa-OUTb:CTAG:::PARAMETER=PPAIP;
RTRV-EQPT::Sa-OUTb:CTAG:::PARAMETER=PPAMASK;
RTRV-EQPT::Sa-OUTb:CTAG:::PARAMETER=PPAGATE;
RTRV-EQPT::Sa-OUTb:CTAG:::PARAMETER=PPBIP;
RTRV-EQPT::Sa-OUTb:CTAG:::PARAMETER=PPBMASK;
RTRV-EQPT::Sa-OUTb:CTAG:::PARAMETER=PPBGATE;
