Installing a new battery pack
1. Hold the battery pack over the PTC-1800's battery
compartment.
2. Place the battery pack straight down onto the
PTC-1800. The slots on the sides of the battery
should come down over the tabs in the battery
compartment.
3. Slide the battery pack toward the battery pack
release button until it clicks into place.
4. Resume the PTC-1800.
Recharging the battery pack
Charging options
The PTC-1800's lithium-ion battery pack can be
recharged via a 12-VDC, 1.2-A AC adapter; a 15-VDC,
2.7-A cigarette lighter adapter; or the Model 1822
charger.
When to charge the battery pack
If you need to continue using the
PTC-1800, use a spare battery pack
while the first one is being
recharged. Charge the PTC-1800's battery pack before you use
the unit for the first time, at the end of the work day
or if the low battery icon (Appendix C) appears.
Charging time
The amount of time it takes for the PTC-1800's built-
in charger to recharge a battery pack depends on
several factors:
• The battery type
• The charging temperature
• The percentage of charge remaining in the battery
• The age of the battery
• Whether or not the unit is used while charging.
