Getting Started
Note: The NiMH battery pack is sold either in a set with its cover or by itself.
Purchase the set with the cover if this is the first time the battery is
being used.
Charging the EDL Cap
The Electric Double Layer (EDL) cap is an internal “battery” that provides backup power to
maintain data when the batteries are out of the terminal. Charge the terminal for a minimum
of two hours when powering up for the first time, or when the batteries are out of the
terminal for a few minutes or more. There is insufficient backup power to maintain data if
this is not done. There is no indication on the terminal or the cradle when the EDL cap is
charging.
