DNS Recursion Record Properties—Description tab
Optionally, provides an extended description. This information is useful to help track changes or it can
be used as criteria for searches.
The maximum length is 20,000 alphanumeric characters.
DNS Root Server Record Properties—General tab
DNS lookups begin with the root servers, which send back either the requested DNS information or the
name server that can get the requester closer to the DNS information they seek. The security gateway
includes a current list of root servers that use the Internet to return the requested DNS information.
You should configure a DNS root server if you have a security gateway that is protecting an enclave
network and therefore does not have Internet access. This lets the enclave security gateway use the
perimeter security gateway as a root server, overriding the list of root servers that are provided.
You would also create a DNS root server record if you have no access to the Internet (if you have your
own internal root servers). This is also preferred to using a forwarder on the internal security gateway.

Field Description
Enable Indicates whether this option is enabled.
This option is checked by default.
Server name A unique name for the DNS root server record.
The maximum length is 256 characters.
Allowed characters are a-z, A-Z, numerals, periods (.), and dashes (-).
Do not include spaces in the name. The characters @,!,#,$,%,^,&,*,<,>, _ and other reserved
characters are also invalid.
Accessibility The Private status is displayed.
This field is read-only.
Caption An optional, brief description of the DNS root server.
The maximum length is 128 characters.
