Monitoring the security gateway
Viewing system health

Power supply status (5640 and 5660 only), when more than one power supply is installed.
Green check marks are displayed when these values are in the safe range.
A red circle with an x is displayed when a value exceeds the safe range. If you see a red x, you
should view the log file for messages that describe the nature of the problem and possible actions.

Changing the health check poll interval
By default, the security gateway appliance is polled every 30 seconds for the health status information
that is displayed in the Overall Health window. You can change the poll interval.
You may want to increase the poll interval if you are concerned about a problem. You should not
decrease the poll interval to less than a minute.
Prerequisites
None.
To change the health check poll interval

In the SGMI, in the right pane, under System, click
Administration
.

In the right pane, on the Advanced Options tab, click
ui_status_poll_interval
, and then click
Properties
.

In the Advanced Options Properties dialog box, on the Value tab, click the listed value.

In the Value field, change the value, and then click
Modify
.

Optionally, do one of the following:

To save your configuration now and activate later, on the toolbar, click
Save
.
■
To activate your configuration now, on the toolbar, click
Activate
.
When prompted to save your changes, click
Yes
.

Viewing quick status
The SGMI home page provides a way to view a quick status of the security gateway.
It tells you:
■
Whether the security gateway is running
■
How long it has been running
■
The active configuration
■
Whether changes are waiting to be activated, who made them, and when
■
If licenses are nearing expiration, it displays the expiration dates and, if you have read access,
provides a link to the License Installation Wizard.
