Defining your security environment
Controlling full application inspection of traffic
Modifying the minimum visit time necessary to log statistics
You can control the frequency at which the NNTP proxy logs statistics events when users switch from
one newsgroup to another. The user must stay in a newsgroup for as long as the time defined by this
procedure for the event to be properly logged. Changes you make take affect immediately after saving
and activating the configuration.
Prerequisites
Complete the following task before beginning this procedure:

To modify the minimum visit time necessary to log statistics

In the SGMI, in the left pane, under Assets, click
Proxies
.

In the right pane, on the Proxies tab, click the NNTP proxy, and then click
Properties
.

In the Proxy Properties dialog box, on the Policy tab, in the Minimum Visit Time text box, type a
new value.

Click
OK
.

Optionally, do one of the following:

To save your configuration now and activate later, on the toolbar, click
Save
.
■
To activate your configuration now, on the toolbar, click
Activate
.
When prompted to save your changes, click
Yes
.

Dropping NNTP connections that use illegal commands
Using the procedure in this section, you can configure the NNTP proxy to drop connections that
attempt to use illegal NNTP commands. Illegal commands are NNTP commands or responses that are
not defined in RFC 977 or news articles that do not comply with RFC 1036. Changes you make take
affect immediately after saving and activating the configuration.
Prerequisites
Complete the following task before beginning this procedure:
