About the security gateway’s implementation of DNS
To identify a host in a domain with a DNS host record

In the SGMI, in the left pane, under Assets, click
Network
.

In the right pane, on the DNS tab, click
New > DNS Host Record
.

In the DNS Host Record Properties dialog box, on the General tab, do the following:

On the Aliases tab, in Alias text box, do the following:

In the Alias text box, type the alias name.

Click
Add
.

Optionally, on the Description tab, type a more detailed description or what you typed in the
Caption text box.

Click
OK
.

Optionally, do one of the following:

To save your configuration now and activate later, on the toolbar, click
Save
.
■
To activate your configuration now, on the toolbar, click
Activate
.
When prompted to save your changes, click
Yes
.

Defining your email server with a DNS mail server record
A DNS mail server record, known as mail exchange (MX) record in standard DNS, defines the server
responsible for handling email. Use a public mail server record to point external mail systems to the
address for your domain’s mail server, usually the outside address of the security gateway. Use a
private mail server record to control the routing of internal mail to internal mail servers.
Prerequisites
None.
To define your email server with a DNS mail server record

In the SGMI, in the left pane, under Assets, click
Network
.

In the right pane, on the DNS tab, click
New > DNS Mail Server Record
.

In the DNS Mail Server Record Properties dialog box, on the General tab, do the following:
Enable
To enable the DNS host record, check
Enable
.
Host name
Type a fully qualified domain name for the DNS record.
Accessibility
Select either Public or Private.
IP address
Type the IP address of the host.
Caption
Type a brief description of the DNS record.
Enable
To enable the DNS mail server record, check
Enable
.
Server name
Type a fully qualified domain name for the mail server.
Accessibility
Select Public or Private.
IP Address
Type the IP address of the mail server.
