1.1 Product Positioning
This chapter describes the positioning of the N8300.
Network Attached Storage (NAS) is a storage methodology where data is accessed over the
network - primarily Ethernet. Ongoing developments in IP technology have caused more users
to select NAS devices to store mass data.
The N8300 is a clustered NAS storage system and features efficient data sharing and flexible
scalability. The N8300 can be used for different industries, such as finance, government,
petroleum and natural gas, health and life sciences, manufacturing, and e-discovery.
Potential application scenarios for the N8300 are listed as follows:
l
Video and audio sharing and downloading over the Internet and large-scale Local Area
Networks (LANs)
l
Video surveillance and satellite images used by governments
l
Risk analysis, securities, finance derivative transactions, and file image for the financial
industry
l
Video recording, editing, processing, and playing in the media and entertainment industry
shows potential networking scenarios for the N8300.
