Mounting instructions for Contour “J” rack
Place the assembled racks onto the roof bars. The bars must be at
least 24” between the bars.
1. Line up the two Contour “J” Racks. With bracket # 5 on the opposite side
of the bar, inserts 2 #8 bolts through the grommet and into bracket #5
and attach the nuts.
NOTE:
The rack is supplied with two lengths of bolts.
If the bolts are too short use the longer ones (#12).
2. Tighten all of the bolts.
Loading Kayak
1. Run the webbing strap around the top of the carrier.
2. Load the kayak with the opening outward. Insure that all of the contact
points on the kayak touch the pads.
3. Loop the straps over the kayak and around the load bars, and tighten.
4. Attach the bow and stern tie downs to a secure point on the bumper.
Check the lines regularly to ensure they are always tight.
Warnings
1. The load bars must be at a minimum of 24” apart and the kayak must be
center on the carriers. Do not exceed the factory recommended load on
the
crossbars.
2. Make sure the straps do not cover the cockpit area as it is not strong
enough and damage can occur.
3. Always use the Bow and Stern lines and check regularly.
4. This rack is designed for Sea Kayaks and White Water Kayaks. It is not
designed for aluminum boats.
