Amplifier Replacement Instructions
SVS PC13-Ultra & PB13-Ultra & SB13-Ultra Subwoofers
Sledge STA-1000D Amplifier
Please read these instructions carefully. E-mail or call SVS if you have any
concerns or problems.
Removal of the woofer is NOT required to replace the amplifier.
Please do not attempt woofer removal for any reason.
Tools needed:
x
One square driver bit (provided).
x
A hand-held or power bit driver.
x
Needle-nose pliers.
Procedures:
1.
Turn off the hard power rocker switch. Disconnect the power cord. Disconnect
the input signal cable.
2.
Remove the ten (10) square drive amplifier screws with the provided bit.
3.
Partially remove the amplifier from the enclosure until you can see the red and
black woofer lead wires which are connected to the amplifier. Do not stretch or
yank these wires. Support the amp as needed to maximize slack in the wiring.
4.
Using your needle-nose pliers, remove the red and black wires from the amp
circuit board. Only pull on the spade connector and not the wire itself. Set aside
the non-operational amplifier.
5.
Place the replacement amplifier partially into the enclosure opening. Attach the
woofer wires to the amp circuit board, observing correct polarity (refer to below
photo).
6.
The replacement amplifier may already have a short set of wire leads (with male
spade terminations) already connected. Depending on the length of the existing
woofer wires, you have the option of connecting to the short set of wire leads, or
connecting directly to the amplifier board (which would require you to remove the
short set of leads).
7.
After making the woofer-to-amp connection, place the new amplifier fully into the
enclosure, and make sure it is oriented correctly and seats fully into the opening.
8.
Carefully insert and re-tighten the ten (10) square drive amp screws until they are
snug. Do not over-tighten these screws
–
a firm hand-snug is sufficient.
9.
Reconnect the power cord and input signal cable.
10.
Set the Power Mode toggle switch to Auto.
11.
Set the Input Level toggle switch to Normal.
12.
Turn on the hard power rocker switch.
13.
Hold the function controller down until the amplifier starts.
