Manual Transmission: 5B-17

• Apply a small quantity of thread lock to the gearshift

pawl lifter screws, and then tighten the specified
torque.

: Thread lock cement 99000–32110

(THREAD LOCK CEMENT SUPER 1322 or
equivalent)

Tightening torque
Gearshift pawl lifter screw (c): 9 N·m (0.9 kgf-m,
6.5 lb-ft)

• When installing the gearshift shaft return spring,

position the stopper “D” of gearshift arm between the
shaft return spring ends “E”.

• Install the gearshift shaft (11) with the washer.

NOTE
Set the gearshift shaft return spring ends “F”
to the gearshift arm stopper (12) and
gearshift cam roller (13) to the gearshift shaft
(11).

• Install a new snap ring (14).

CAUTION

The removed snap ring (14) must be replaced
with a new one.

Gearshift shaft

Check the gearshift shaft for bend or wear.
Check the return spring for damage or fatigue.
