Removing a Hot-Swap Drive Carrier from the Chassis
1. Push the release button on the drive carrier, which will extend the drive carrier handle.
2. Use the drive carrier handle to pull the drive out of the chassis.

3.6 Storage Drives
The system supports ten hot-swap 2.5" NVMe/SAS/SATA storage drives in hybrid bays. An
optional controller card kit is required to support SAS.
The drives are mounted in tool-less drive carriers that simplify their removal from the chassis.
These carriers also help promote proper airflow. Each carrier has a small space on the front
to receive a label, orange or purple, to help distinguish NVMe or SAS/SATA.
Note:
Enterprise level hard disk drives are recommended for use in Supermicro servers. For
compatible storage drives, see the
X12DDW-A6 motherboard web page.
