SSxDSL-5 IDSL Module
• NAT’L: National standard defined by Bellcore.
• ETSI: Euro ISDN standard defined by ETSI.
LINE TYPE
Options: P-to-MP (F1), P-to-P (F2)
Match the line type of the circuit. This will be P-to-MP, unless
testing an AT&T custom 5ESS or ETSI switch.
• P-to-MP: Point-to-Multipoint line. In this, there may be multiple
devices connected to the NT1 at the S/T interface. Each device
is identified by a different TEI value.
• P-to-P: Point-to-Point line. In this, there is only one device on
the line.
SPID # 1
A SPID (Service Profile Identifier) is used in point-to-multipoint
circuits to identify the services available on a basic rate circuit. It
is typically the 7 or 10 digit phone number of the circuit, with any
combination of 0’s and 1’s as the prefix and/or suffix. Enter the
proper SPID in order to test.
If testing a P-P or ETSI circuit, SPIDS are not used. If uncertain
about the exact SPID, some common configurations are:
• 01xxxxxxx0 (x represent the 7-digit phone number).
• xxxxxxxxxx0101 (x represent the area code + 7-digit phone
number).
• xxxxxxxxxx01 (x represent the area code + 7-digit phone
number).
However even though these configurations are common, SPIDs
are set in the switch translations and therefore, can vary among
protocols, manufacturers, and individual switches.
To enter a SPID, see
Section 2.3.1-SPID NUM (1 and 2).
Note: For DMSF and NAT’L-2 protocols, a P-to-MP circuit may
not use SPIDs, if the switch is set for fixed TEI values. In fixed
TEI conditions, a specific TEI is assigned for X.25 packet. This
value is assigned for in the translation of the switch and can only
be used for packet testing. You may configure your TEI value for
the
IDSL
module in the OTHER SETUP menu.
DIRECTORY #
This is the number of the X.25 line. Press SHIFT and use the
numeric keypad to enter up to 14 digits.
AREA CODE
Enter the local area code of the X.25 line. Press SHIFT and use
the numeric keypad to enter the 3 digits.
