EES USER MANUAL
INSTALLATION
4.1
COMPRESSOR
INSTALLATION
Follow installation instructions and guidelines in
compressor operating manual.
4.2
LOCATION OF EES
INSTALLATION
The Sullair EES is intended for installation in
enclosed spaces and should be protected from
blowing rain or snow. It is feasible to locate the
Sullair compressor with Integral EES in unheated
spaces with minimum modifications. Since heated
air is automatically bypassed to maintain a
thermostatically controlled temperature in the
compressor enclosure, aftercooled compressors can
run reliably in freezing temperatures. Provisions
must be made to prevent freezing when the
compressor is not running. A cold weather package
for the compressor should be utilized. Consult the
factory for further information.
4.3
DUCT WORK
Proper duct design should be incorporated to limit
the total system static pressure loss imposed by the
ductwork to 0.50 in. w.g. This total system static
pressure loss is the sum of the inlet duct loss and the
greater of the two discharge duct losses.
The internal cooling fan on the integrated EES
compressor package is oversized to allow for a
generous amount of external ductwork. In certain
applications, a booster fan may be required. If this is
the case, the following guidelines should be
observed:
• Booster fans should be selected based on
air flow of 4,800 CFM for 3000P, 40HP and
3700, 50HP machines or 5600 CFM for
4500, 60HP machines. Fan rating should
be based on the ductwork static pressure
restriction minus 0.50 in w.g.
• If the fan discharge or inlet is shut off, the
fan drive motor should not overload.
4.4
ELECTRICAL PREPARATION
Interior electrical wiring is installed at the factory.
Required customer wiring should be done by a
qualified electrician in compliance with OSHA,
National Electric Code and/or any applicable local
electrical codes applying to isolation switches, fused
disconnects, etc. Sullair provides a wiring diagram
for use by the installer. An electrical check should be
made to ensure that the first start-up will be
successful. The compressor and drive should be
properly grounded/earthed in accordance with
applicable codes, regulations, and requirements.
4.5
EES ENCLOSURE
ASSEMBLY
Due to the height of the assembly, the compressor
and EES enclosure is shipped partially
disassembled. Before assembly, determine which
position is preferable for the rejected and recovered
air dampers. If a configuration different from the
default is preferred, the change will be easier with the
enclosure off of the compressor.
