Chapter 8: Maintenance
The warning level is based solely on elapsed time rather than reagent consumption. Therefore, if the
sampling interval is changed after you have installed the reagent and reset the installation information, the
warning level counter is no longer valid and you should visually monitor the reservoir.
Reagent and Zero Columns
.
Both columns are replaced in the same manner:
1. Make sure the Analyzer is off.
2. Pull the release pin to allow removal of the spent column.
3. Wipe residue from the tube stems behind the release pin.
4. Remove all packaging from the new column, including the clear plastic tube used to seal the top
ports.
5. Orient the column with the two ports on top and the side hole facing away from the Analyzer.
6. Push the middle of the column into the holder (dark gray plastic bracket centered on the right side
of the Analyzer), and then push the column up into its mounting location until it snaps into place.
• You will notice the release pin come out and then snap back in as the column is installed.
Updating the Reagent Column and Zero Column Installation Information
After installing either the reagent column or the zero column, set the installation date:
1. Turn on the Analyzer.
2. Press
SETUP
from the
Main Menu
.
3. Highlight
MAINTENANCE
and press
ENTER
.
4. Highlight the appropriate menu option (
DI RESIN
for the reagent column or
ZERO BORON RES
for the zero column) and press
ENTER
.
5. Highlight the appropriate install menu option (
INSTALL DI RESIN
for the reagent column or
INSTALL ZERO BORON
for the zero column) and press
ENTER
.
• The install time is automatically set to the current date. The expected lifetime of both columns is
90 days at the 12-minute sampling rate and 45 days at the 6.5-minute sampling rate.
Warning
Replace the reagent and zero columns annually. Failure to replace these columns
on a regular schedule can directly affect the accuracy of the boron readings.
