Chapter 8: Maintenance
Draining Unused Reagent
To drain unused reagent:
1. Turn off the Analyzer.
2. Pull the release pin labeled "REAGENT COLUMN" outward, then pull the reagent column
downward and remove.
3. Wipe residue from tube stems behind the release pin and install the drain/fill assembly in this
location.
4. Rotate the valve on the drain/fill assembly clockwise, to the "drain" position, and connect 1/4-inch
OD PFA drain tubing to the valve.
5. Place the other end of the drain tubing into a waste receptacle at least 1 liter in volume.
6. Turn on the Analyzer.
• Reagent will be expelled through the drain tubing into the waste receptacle.
7. Turn the Analyzer off after all reagent has been expelled.
Installing the New Reagent
Option 1
1. Locate the reagent fill port at the top of the Analyzer, in the right rear corner.
• If this port is not accessible with the bottle of reagent, then install the reagent using Option 2
below.
2. Unscrew and remove the fill port cap.
3. Remove the cap from the bottle of reagent, and pour the reagent into the Analyzer through the fill
port using the funnel provided.
4. Replace the fill port cap and screw it on until you feel a slight resistance.
5. Discard the empty reagent container.
Option 2
Means are provided for filling the reagent reservoir without using the fill port on top of the Analyzer:
1. Remove the cap from the bottle of reagent and screw the reagent refiller assembly onto the bottle
• This assembly consists of a black rubber hand pump, 1/4-inch OD PFA tubing, and a gray
plastic cap with fittings.
2. The drain/fill assembly is installed on the Analyzer (in the position normally occupied by the
Reagent Column) when it is shipped from the factory.
• If reagent is being refilled following initial setup, the Reagent Column must be removed, and
the drain/fill assembly mounted in its place.
