Chapter 7. Multistream Operation
Overview
The Boron Analyzer can be purchased in a 1, 2, 3, or 4 stream configuration. Additionally, a 1, 2, or 3
stream Analyzer can be upgraded to a total of 4 streams for an additional charge. The multistream
capability allows sampling from different locations with one instrument. Some of the many features
associated with the multistream option that can be optimized for your particular application include:
• Each stream can be enabled or disabled via the user interface or remotely using binary inputs.
• The number of analyses for each stream (5-240) can be selected.
• Each stream can be configured independently.
• Each stream has its own 4-20 mA output.
• Alarms and binary outputs can be activated based on boron concentration or error condition for
the stream.
• Individual or averaged readings can be selected.
• An initial flush for each stream can be set.
Optimizing the Number of Samples
Each stream can be programmed to analyze between 5 and 240 samples before the Analyzer advances to
the next stream. To make the most effective use of the Analyzer, configure each stream to analyze a
defined number of samples. When selecting the number of samples to best meet your strategy of
monitoring and measurement, consider the following time factors:
• Time of Analysis : Each 10-sample analysis cycle will take approximately 2.5 hours in
12-minute mode (1.6 hours in 6.5 minute mode). This fixed duration includes 30 minutes to
perform the zeroing operation and 120 minutes for 10 samples taken at 12-minute intervals
(65 minutes using 6.5 minute intervals).
