Chapter 5: System Configuration
INPUT/OUTPUT
There are 8 types of inputs and outputs:
BINARY INPUTS; BINARY OUTPUTS; ANALOG OUTPUTS;
ALARM OUTPUTS; DISPLAY CONTRAST; AC FREQUENCY; SERIAL PORT
; and
PRINTER TYPE
.
Refer to Chapter 6, "Setting Up Inputs and Outputs" on page 65
for detailed information.
MAINTENANCE
The
MAINTENANCE
option allows you to edit the maintenance status of the five maintenance items. This is
different from the
MAINTENANCE
option in the
VIEW
menu where you can only view the status of the
maintenance items.
1. To edit the status of maintenance items press
SETUP
from the
Main Menu
.
2. Highlight
MAINTENANCE
by using the arrow keys and press
ENTER
.
3. Press
EXIT
to return to the
Setup
menu.
STREAM SETUP
The
STREAM Setup
Menu is used to set the operating parameters of the streams. There are four
submenus for setting the sampling method for all streams:
FLUSH TIME
for all streams;
SAMPLE
METHOD; ANALYSIS TIME
; and the
STREAM SETTINGS
. Select the desired submenu using the
UP
and
DOWN
arrow keys to highlight the submenu name, and press
ENTER
.
FLUSH TIME
This option is used to set the amount of time, in minutes, that the instrument will flush down after switching
streams. The default is 2 minutes. A recommended flush time is 1 minute for each 20 feet of sample tubing
on the longest tubing run. Use the
UP
and
DOWN
arrow keys to increment or decrement the flush time.
Press
ENTER
to save the new value. Press
EXIT
to keep the original value.
SAMPLE METHOD
This option is used to select either averaging of boron measurements or reporting individual boron
measurements. This one setting defines the sample method for all sample streams.
•
INDIVIDUAL
Mode
: produces a numerical result for each analysis.
•
AVERAGED
Mode
: produces one numerical result that is the average of 5 sequential
analyses. As the Analyzer is programmed to perform 10 analyses prior to re-zeroing,
AVERAGED
mode will produce 2 numerical results from these 10 analyses before re-zeroing.
Note:
The maintenance of the Analyzer is critical to its success. Five components must be
properly maintained. Each component must be setup after maintenance or
replacement activities are performed. To edit the maintenance status of a
component, refer to Chapter 8, "Maintenance" on page 81.
