8.2.1 Creating a Visual Route
To create a video route using the Visual Routing option, perform the following steps:
1. Select a source, such as the Endo Cam, from the Sources list on the left side of the screen. The source will
be moved from the Sources area up into the Routes area, indicating it is the source you are viewing.
2. If you only want to view the source on a display, select one, such as Monitor 1, from the Displays list.
Note
When routing a source to a device or display, ensure that the video types for each component are
compatible, otherwise the route will not be successful.
3. If you wish to route the video through a device, such as Sidne, select it from the Devices list, and then
select a display.
4. To route a display source through two devices, select the source, select each device, and then select a
display.
Each component in the route will appear in the Routes section at the top of the screen upon selection. In the
example shown in the figure, the route begins with the Endo Cam, which is then passed through Monitors 1 and
3, as well as the Sidne device. The route continues from Sidne through the SDC and ends at Monitor 2.
You can further see through the route in the figure above that each of the chosen components are capable of using
the DVI, Hi-Res, and S-Video types. The colored arrows pointing between each of the components indicates
which type of video signal is being utilized. The best possible quality signal will always be used. In the figure
where all of the components are capable of using all three video types, the DVI type is being used, as indicated by
the blue arrows.
