9.13.2 Check and top up coolant level
The coolant cools down the diesel engine. It consists of water
and coolant additives with admixtures protecting the cooling
system against corrosion and preventing chalk deposits.
Information about the storage of coolant
•
Store coolant only in unopened original containers at a
safe location.
•
Store the containers out of the reach of children.
NOTE
Observe the enclosed operating instructions of the engine
manufacturer.
CAUTION
Risk of scalding and burns
The cooling system is under pressure. Risk of scalding and
burns due to contact with hot coolant and hot machine parts.
•
Let the diesel engine cool down.
•
Wear appropriate protective clothing.
CAUTION
Harmful coolant
Coolant and coolant vapours are harmful to health.
•
Avoid contact with coolant.
•
In case of eye contact, immediately rinse the eyes
thoroughly with water and contact the medical services.
•
If swallowed, immediately contact the medical services.
ATTENTION
Damage to engine
•
Never fill cold fluid into the hot engine. The cylinder head
or block may crack.
•
Under no circumstances allow the engine to run without
coolant, not even for a few minutes.
•
Use only approved coolant solutions.
