On the one hand, this action can ensure that the partition with the operating system and the
CODESYS environment remains undamaged. On the other hand, variable data can still be
stored.
File system check
On the MC6 motion controller, the CODESYS runtime environment is not started by the
conventional autostart mechanism of the operating system. Instead, it is started by a batch
script, the last command of which initiates the start of the runtime environment.
This measure does not contribute directly to improvement of the file system safety. However, it
enables checks to be carried out before the runtime environment is started. These checks can
detect damage to the file system and enable countermeasures to be introduced.
After a system is started, the consistency of the file system is automatically checked before the
CODESYS runtime environment is started. This is done in read-only mode, which reduces the
time needed for the check to a minimum.
If the file system is damaged, a repair is automatically initiated. This measure may take a few
seconds as it requires leaving read-only mode.
Partition C is protected by the EWF Manager; partition D contains all files that are variable at
run time and is not secured by the EWF Manager. Manually and automatically created backups
are stored on the invisible partition X.
