P18: Fault characteristics

The charge controller on the appliance is set to "negative fault
characteristics" (storage heater not charged if charge control
system is faulty). This setting will work only when operated by a
digital charge control system. With AC charge control systems, an
80 % duty cycle signal is additionally required.

The charge controller in the appliance is set to "positive fault
characteristics" (factory setting). This means if the charge control
system is faulty (e.g. control signal failure), the appliance receives
a full charge.
14. Commissioning
14.1 Checks before commissioning
You can carry out a function check before commissioning. To do
so, call up commissioning mode in the configuration menu.

To access the configuration menu, press and hold the "Menu"
button for about 3 seconds.
You must first enable access level A1, which is reserved for qual-
ified contractors.

Use "+" or "–" to call up the "CodE" menu item.

Press "OK".
The code entry field is displayed. The first digit flashes.

Use "+" or "–" to enter the code 1 0 0 0. After entering each
digit, press "OK".

After entering the correct code, call up the actual value I4
with the "+" button.

To access commissioning mode, press and hold the "Menu"
and "+" buttons simultaneously for about 3 seconds.
An initial charge takes place in commissioning mode. The charge
volume is determined by the setting on the charge level reducer.
The display shows charging progress as a percentage.
Note
- If the charge level reducer is set to 0 %, no charging
takes place.
- Once the charge volume has been reached, the ap-
pliance quits commissioning mode automatically.

Test the fan function by switching on fan enabling, using the
"Fan" button.
Note
The fan runs only while charging is taking place.

To quit commissioning mode, press and hold the "Menu" and
"–" buttons simultaneously for about 3 seconds.
14.2 Initial start-up
You can start the appliance directly, once installation has been
completed.

Set the charge via the charge level reducer or the charge
control system.
14.2.1 Charging
During initial charging, a smell may develop.

Make sure that the room is adequately ventilated. Partial-
ly opening windows, for example, results in a 1.5-fold air
change.
If you install the appliance in the bedroom, initial charging should
not take place while anyone is sleeping there.
15. Modifying the appliance
For modifications, attachments and installations, the instructions
provided with the relevant kit are valid.
16. Handover
Explain the functions of the appliance to the user. Draw special
attention to the safety instructions. Hand over these operating and
installation instructions to the user.
