6.2.3 Annual maintenance by trained lift service personnel only
The user must have the column lifts inspected once a year by the Stertil technical
service or another technical service authorized by Stertil (both hereafter referred to
as
the technical service
). A maintenance subscription can be taken out with the
technical service for this annual inspection. In the event that no maintenance
subscription has been taken out, the user must make an appointment each year for
this inspection and servicing.
This inspection is signed off on the inspection checklist (see appendix A of the
Operating Instructions.)
The following tasks must be carried out:
1.
Inspection as described under daily and monthly.
2.
Check oil level.
Check the oil level in the tank of the hydraulic unit only with the column in the highest
position. The oil level must be above the minimum oil level line, but not more than
1 1/4" above this line.
Caution
c
ANY DIRT OR CONTAMINATION WHICH IS FOUND IN THE HYDRAULIC
RESERVOIR SHALL BE REMOVED AT ONCE. This dirt could get into the cylinders
and DAMAGE OR DESTROY the seals, resulting in a POTENTIALLY SERIOUS
SAFETY HAZARD. Clean the hydraulic reservoir thoroughly and replace only with
approved oil. Contact your Authorized Service Representative if further assistance
is required.
3.
The hydraulic oil to be used is
UNIL HVD S15 (ISO VG15)
, with an absolute filtering
at 4 microns.
4.
When the oil level is too low, always perform the leak checks described later in this
chapter.
5.
Inspection of all safety features.
6.
Check for leakage from the cylinders. If oil is leaking from one of the cylinders, the
seals and the guide rings must be replaced.
7.
Check for leakage from the hydraulic system. If the column lift sinks back down by
more than 6mm per hour, then the system must be inspected for external (hoses,
couplings) and internal (valves) leakage. Defective parts must be replaced.
8.
General inspection for damage. If cracks have appeared in structural components,
then the parts in question must be replaced. Immediately repair or replace all parts
which could cause hazardous situations.
9.
Perform all lubrication tasks set out in
Table 6.1 "Lubrication program" on page 45
.
