6.5.4 Si Multi Basket — Loading Instruments with Shaft Flush Port

ALWAYS confirm compatibility with the instrument manufacturer.

ALWAYS follow the manufacturer instructions if processing instruments
with special characteristics, e.g. fiber optics or rigid optics.

ALWAYS follow the manufacturer instructions when processing
instruments.

ALWAYS open box-jointed instruments.
l
ALWAYS disassemble instruments that are designed to be taken apart.
Instruments with a flush port on the shaft
just below the body may require this flush
port to be connected to equipment flushing
for
cleaning and disinfection. The
instrument will require connection to a
single-site adapter at the shaft flush port
before loading into the basket.
1. The instrument tip should be open to allow for cleaning of all surfaces.
2. Single-site adapters and stapler flush
adapters have a similar appearance but
should not be confused and are NOT
interchangeable. A single-site adapter,
indicated by '
A
' in the image below, has a
smaller hole for the instrument shaft.
