10.9 Sensor calibration
The sensor must be calibrated with the measuring range and direction with every change.
The retracted position (upper end position) of the cylinder is at 10 V, which ensures the correct functioning
with the STEINEL S-Former E control unit.
The extended position (lower end position) of the cylinder is at 0 V.
Before starting the calibration process, ensure that the sensor covers the entire stroke distance of the
cylinder. Position the sensor so that the display LED illuminates during the entire stroke distance.
Adjust the position when the LED goes out.
The calibration process for the S-Former E1.1 is illustrated as an example:

1. Extend the spindle

to the lower end position
2. Press the yellow calibration button

at the
analogue sensor and keep it held down until the
yellow LED
2
begins to flash rapidly.
3. Release the calibration button.

4. Move the spindle

to the upper end position.
5. Briefly press the yellow calibration button
1
once.
6. The yellow LED
2
will briefly flash rapidly, and
then illuminate permanently.
7. Retract and extend the spindle to test the cali-
bration. The LED
2
must be illuminated for the
entire time.
8. If the LED goes out, it means that the measuring
range is too small. If this happens, then the cali-
bration process must be repeated.
A detailed description of the sensor calibration process and how to reset to
the factory settings can be found in the technical documentation of the sensor
manufacturer.
