5. Installation
5.1.
General installation information
During the entire process of installation, the device must not be connected to the electrical
mains.
The pump and the entire connection system have to be protected from frost.
Please also note the illustrations which are located in the text and also as an annex at the end of these operating
instructions. The figures, which are shown in brackets in the statements below, refer to fig. 5 at the end of the
operating instructions.
All connection lines have to be perfectly tight since leaking lines may affect the performance of the pump and
cause considerable damage. If required, please use a suitable sealant to make the installation airtight.
When tightening threaded connections, please do not apply excessive force which may cause damage.
When laying the connection pipes, you should make sure that the pump is not exposed to any form of weight,
vibration or tension. Moreover, the connection lines must not contain any kinks or an adverse slope.
5.2.
Installation of the pressure line
The pressure line conveys the liquids to be discharged from the pump to the point of withdrawal. To avoid
dynamic flow losses, one should use a pressure line having at least the same diameter as the pressure port (4) of
the pump.
The pressure line to be used for this application should be a suitable flexible hose. If, instead, a pipeline used, it
must be connected to the pressure connection through a flexible hose of at least two meters in length. This avoids
damage to the pump housing by vibrations. The hose - and, where appropriate, the pipeline - must have pressure
resistance of at least. 6 bar.
To attach the hose to the pressure port suitable clamps or brackets are recommended.
5.3.
How to position the pump
To lower or raise the pump, please use a suitable lowering rope, but never the pressure hose
or the connection cable.
To lower the pump down into or lift it out of the liquid, one has to use a lowering rope suitable for this purpose.
Please use a rope made of stainless steel or synthetic materials such as nylon. Considering the risk of breaking
involved, ropes which tend to the formation of rust, weathering, mouldering etc must not be used. The rope does
not only have to bear the weight of the pump plus that of the water-filled pressure line and the connection cable, it
also has to resist to the strain occurring in operation.
The standard equipment of this model includes a lowering rope.
To fasten the rope to the pump, please use the two eyelets (5) located at the upper part of the unit. Make sure
that the pump will move into a vertical position when lifted up with the rope.
The lowering rope, the connection cable (1) and the pressure line have to be tied together at distance intervals of
about 2 m using a suitable adhesive tape or cable ties to keep them from getting entangled while the pump is
raised or lowered.
Carefully lower the pump with the lowering rope down into liquid to be discharged. Make sure that the unit will not
bump or rub against the circumference of the cavity. The unit must be fully immersed in the liquid. The intake
should be at least 0.5 m below the water surface. This prevents air is sucked. The minimum distance from the
ground should be 0.5 m to prevent sludge, sand, stones etc from being sucked in.
In order to be sure of this positioning it is advisable to set the pump down on the bottom of the well shaft and to
mark this submersion depth on the tensioned cord. Make a second marking 0.5 m below this (i.e. towards the
pump). Now draw the pump upwards 50 cm and fasten the device in place at this position whilst observing the
second marking.
6. Electrical connection
The unit is equipped with a mains connection cable and a mains plug. It must only be replaced by qualified staff to
avoid any danger. Please do not use the mains connection cable to carry the pump, and do not use this cable to
pull off the plug from the socket, either. Protect the mains connection cable and mains plug from heat, oil or sharp
edges.
