Installation
Notes:
• You may need to restart your computer during the software
installation process. Be sure to save any unsaved material before
you install the software.
• If you’re running Windows 7 (or lower), macOS or Linux, ensure
the network adapter is not connected to your computer until after
driver installation.
1. If you’re running Windows 7 (or lower), macOS or Linux, download
the latest software from the StarTech.com website:
http://www.StarTech.com/US100A20SFP.
Note:
If you’re running Windows 8 (or later) proceed to step 5.
2. The software that corresponds with your operating system will be
compressed in a .zip folder. Download and extract the contents
of that folder to a location on your computer that’s easy to access,
such as your
Desktop
or
Downloads
folder.
3. Open the folder that corresponds with your specific operating
system and launch the installer file.
4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation, and if
instructed to do so, restart your computer.
5. Insert your 100Mbps SFP transceiver into the SFP slot on the card.
6. Connect a network interface cable to the SFP transceiver and to
your network.
7. Connect the built-in USB 2.0 cable to a USB port on your
computer.
About the LED indicators
The network adapter features two LED indicators:
• The Power LED illuminates to indicate that the adapter is receiving
power from the computer that it’s connected to.
• The Link and activity LED illuminates solid to indicate a network
connection link and blinks to indicate that data is being sent or
received.
