6 Identification and Network Settings
This chapter describes how to use features provided by the StarForm TM
Swift-G 3D camera in order to identify and connect to the desired
camera on a network where multiple cameras may be connected.
The following sections provide details on how to identify a spe-
cific camera, how to configure persistent properties such as user
identifier or IP address, and the different mechanisms by which a
camera is assigned an IP address on the network. This is illus-
trated using the StarStream GUI program provided, however the
camera properties used are part of the GigE Vision / GenICam
TM
interface and so are also available through the SDK provided, as
well as via GenICam
TM
compliant third-party software.
6.1 Identifying StarForm TM Swift-G Cameras
The StarForm
TM
Swift-G 3D camera provides a number of GenICam
TM
properties that can be used to identify a specific unit. These de-
tails are shown in the
Camera Connect dialog in the StarStream
GUI, as shown in figure 6.1, and are described below. Please see
chapter 8 for further details.
• GevMACAddress . The unique MAC address associated
with the Ethernet interface in the StarForm
TM
Swift-G camera,
also printed on the product label.
• GevCurrentIPAddress . The current IP address of the StarForm TM
Swift-G camera. This can be defined by several means; see
section 6.3 IP Address Determination for details.
• DeviceSerialNumber . The unique, factory-assigned serial
number of the StarForm
TM
Swift-G camera, also printed on
the product label.
• DeviceUserID
. A user-programmable string that can be used
as an identifier for the StarForm
TM
Swift-G camera. This is
stored in non-volatile system flash memory, and will persist
until removed or updated by the user.
