OPERATION
Calling WWV
Please Stand By!
8.) Call WWV Now: To manually initiate a UTC calibration of the Master Time
Programmer, press the
‘8’ key (Call WWV Now) from the WWV Defaults
Menu.
When manually initiating a UTC calibration, the user should take the
following precautions:
(1) AVOID INITIATING A UTC CALIBRATION BETWEEN 5 MINUTES
BEFORE AND 5 MINUTES AFTER EACH HOUR. This is usually the time
automatic hourly corrections of secondary clocks occur.
(2) AVOID INITIATING A UTC CALIBRATION BETWEEN 5:00 AM AND 6:00
AM, AND BETWEEN 5:00 PM AND 6:00 PM. This is usually the time
automatic 12 hour corrections of secondary clocks occur.
(3) AVOID INITIATING A UTC CALIBRATION WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF A
PROGRAMMED EVENT.
h.) Master to Master Sync: The 1466 Master to Master Synchronization Option allows
this Master Time Programmer to synchronize or be synchronized to another time
system. The time this synchronization occurs is referred to as the master to
master synchronization time. This Master Time Programmer allows the user to
select the master to master synchronization time’s hour and minute. See the
1466 Installation Instructions (P/N 445739) for details on how to install the 1466
Master to Master Synchronization Option into this Master Time Programmer.
If the Master Time Programmer synchronizes the other time system to itself, the
Master Time Programmer is considered to be the “master.” When the Master
Time Programmer is the master, it will provide a two second contact closure
across the “O” and “A” terminals of TB2 on the main board. This contact closure
begins on the 33rd second of the master to master synchronization time.
If the Master Time Programmer is synchronized to the other time system, the
Master Time Programmer is considered to be the “slave.” When the Master
Time Programmer is the slave, it will change its time to the 35th second of the
master to master synchronization time when 12 VDC is applied across the “C+”
and “C-” terminals of TB2 on the main board. This time will be held until the
voltage at TB2 is removed.
When selecting the master to master synchronization time, the user should take
the following precautions:
(1) AVOID USING A MASTER TO MASTER SYNCHRONIZATION TIME THAT IS
BETWEEN 5 MINUTES BEFORE AND 5 MINUTES AFTER EACH HOUR.
This is usually the time automatic hourly corrections of secondary clocks
occur.
(2) AVOID USING A MASTER TO MASTER SYNCHRONIZATION TIME THAT IS
BETWEEN 5:00 AM AND 6:00 AM, AND BETWEEN 5:00 PM AND 6:00 PM.
This is usually the time automatic 12 hour corrections of secondary clocks
occur.
(3) AVOID USING A MASTER TO MASTER SYNCHRONIZATION TIME THAT IS
WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF A PROGRAMMED EVENT.
