1460/61 INSTRUCTION MANUAL
OPERATION
The yes/no prompts are the most straightforward of all the prompts. The prompt is
usually a yes or no question. The operator then must press either the
‘YES’
or
‘NO’
key to answer the question.
II.) Operating the Master Time Programmer
Operation and programming of the Master Time Programmer is achieved by using the
keypad and display. During the operation and programming of the Master Time Program-
mer, all time keeping functions, clock circuit corrections, and programmed events will con-
tinue. The only exception to this is if the operator does something to affect these func-
tions (e.g., change the time of day, disable the clock circuit, take a signal circuit out of
automatic operation). If the 1468A RS-232 Port Option is installed, it will cease to transmit
time and date information until operation and/or programming is completed.
The Master Time Programmer has a time-out feature which prevents it from being left in an
other than normal mode of operation. The normal mode of operation is the mode of opera-
tion that accompanies the time and date display. If the operator was using Function Keys
or programming features and didn’t return to the time and date display, approximately two
minutes after the last key was pressed, the Master Time Programmer automatically returns
to the time and date display. This does two things for the operator: (1) prevents
unintended access of restricted features to unauthorized personnel; and (2) prevents un-
needed loss of the transmission of time and date from the 1468A RS-232 Port Option, if
installed.
A.) Access Code Security
The Master Time Programmer is protected from unauthorized access by access code
security. Certain features will be inaccessible without an access code. Features af-
fected by an access code are the Function Keys and the programming features. There
are three levels of access code. The Function Keys, when access code security is
enabled for them, can be accessed through any of the three levels of access code.
Level 1 provides access to the least number of programming features. Level 3 provides
access to all programming features. Any feature accessible with a lower level access
code is accessible with a higher level access code. The Level 3 access code is field
programmable.
A couple of features never require an access code to be entered. These items are
displaying the clock circuits and displaying the signal circuits. Display Clock Circuits
and Display Signal Circuits are discussed in detail later in this section of this manual.
Function Keys (i.e., Steady All Call, Manual On) may be programmed as “on” or “off.” If
Function Keys are on, no access code is required to use them. If Function Keys are off,
an access code (any level) must be entered to use them. These Function Keys are
discussed in detail later in this section of this manual.
Access to programming features of the Master Time Programmer can be accomplished
with any of the three access codes. However, the programming features available to
the user depend on which access code is entered. The programming features of the
Master Time Programmer are discussed in detail later in this section of this manual.
