Maintenance, overhaul and repair
During maintenance, the periods has to be planed in such a way that any expected
deficiencies in the system are detected promptly. However, the maximum permitted
interval between the inspections is three years.
Observe the following items when determining the inspection intervals:
- the ambient conditions (installed in the open, wind, rain, sunlight, etc)
- the operating conditions (utilisation of the system, operating errors)
- manufacturers’ instructions in technical documentation (mechanical and electrical life
of switchgear)
- significant changes in the entire system (e.g. change of zone classification)
WARNING
Excessive tightening of cable glands and stopping plugs can impair the ingress
protection.
For unused enclosure holes use R. STAHL stopping plugs, for example,
Series 8290, for unused cable entries use R. STAHL plugs, e.g. Series 8161.
WARNING
Do not open when live!
Do not open when non-intrinsically safe circuits are live!
Exception: Devices with intrinsically and non-intrinsically safe circuits marked with
"NON-INTRINSICALLY SAFE CIRCUITS PROTECTED BY INTERNAL IP30 COVER"
may be opened while energized!
If flameproof built-in elements are damaged, absolutely no repair or
maintenance work is allowed. In this case, the built-in element must be
replaced.
WARNING
Carry out visual, adjacent or detailed inspections depending on local conditions. If faults
impairing the explosion protection are detected during these inspections, the system
must be taken out of service until the faults have been eliminated.
