Calculating a Custom Layout
The following formula will help you calculate the numberof
QuadPlex
devices needed for any given
layout:
(# of displays ¸ 4 outputs/device) + remainder if any
For example, a 2x7 video wall has 14 displays. Dividing 14 by the 4 outlets per
QuadPlex
device
yields 3 plus a remainder of 2. You therefore need four (4)
QuadPlex
devices, where either:
Option A:
Three
QuadPlex
devices will have displays connected to all 4 outputs.
One
QuadPlex
device will have displays connected to 2 outputs.
Option B:
Two
QuadPlex
devices will have displays connected to all 4 outputs.
One
QuadPlex
device will have displays connected to 3 outputs.
By contrast, a 2x10 layout has 20 displays. Dividing 20 by the 4 outlets per
QuadPlex
device yields
5 with no remainder. All five
QuadPlex
devices in this layout will have displays connected to all 4
ports.
If there an even number of both rows and columns, then there will never be a remainder, and every
QuadPlex
device will have all four outlets in use.
