System Maintenance
Periodic maintenance of your freeze dryer will lead to enhanced performance and
help avoid difficulties during a freeze-drying cycle. It will also result in increasing the
life of the freeze dryer. Maintenance should be performed a minimum of four times a
year. As system use and application varies from one facility to another, you may have
to perform system maintenance considerably more often.
WARNING: THIS EQUIPMENT IS SUPPLIED BY TWO SOURCES OF POWER. CONTACT MAY
CAUSE ELECTRICAL SHOCK OR BURN. TURN OFF AND LOCK-OUT SYSTEM AND UPS OUTPUT
POWER BEFORE SERVICING.
Recommended Preventative Maintenance*
Daily (or after run)
Check Vacuum pump oil level.
Operate the Vacuum pump for at least 0.75 hr with gas ballast.
Weekly
Check quality of the vacuum pump oil.
Visually: Normally light and transparent, change is required when discolorations
increase. For other testing methods refer to vacuum pump manual.
Check Shelf fluid level.
Wipe down all exterior cabinet surfaces with a damp cleaning cloth.
Monthly
Clean Evaporator, removing lower left side panel. Vacuum off fins with nozzle brush.
Caution: Do not damage fins.
Visually inspect unit for fluid leaks around vacuum pump, compressors, and fluid
pump.
6-Month
Check Chamber Doors for signs of stress cracks or hazing.
Visually inspect Chamber gaskets for signs of deterioration.
Change out OME (Oil Mist Eliminator) on Vacuum pump.
Remove side panels:
Inspect for areas that have frosted during operation and insulate as required.
Visually inspect all hose's, Vacuum, Hydraulic, Air and fluid drain lines for signs of
deterioration, replace as necessary.
Check Voltage (Correct ± 5%). Problems arise due to incorrect supply voltage or from
seasonal voltage drops.
Yearly Replace Sterile Air filters (qty 2).
