1-10. Recovery Method
This section describes how to recovery the system of the unit.
OS and application are installed in the SSD module of the unit. When a problem occurred with them due to failure of
software update or the similar accidents, the unit cannot be controlled or the unit does not work stably. Recover the unit
by the following procedure in such situations.
Required equipment
• USB memory (capacity: 1 GB or more, for Windows PE)
• Windows PC (for creating bootable USB memory)
• USB keyboard (English layout is recommended.)
• USB mouse
• PC monitor (with analog 15-pin interface, resolution of 1920x1080)
• Cable for PC monitor
Preparation
1. Connect the USB memory to the Windows PC.
2. Create bootable USB memory for Windows PE.
Note
Create Windows PE for 64-bit Windows8.
Use version 4.0 of Windows PE.
For details of creating bootable USB memory for Windows PE, contact your local Sony Sales Office/Service Center.

Connecting PC monitor
1. Detach the top panel. (Refer to “5-2. Top Panel” )
2. Connect the USB memory to the MOUSE connector of the unit.
3. Connect the mouse to the EXT connector of the unit.
4. Connect the keyboard to the EXT2 connector on the rear of the unit.
5. Connect the PC monitor to the connector CN3201 on the HPR-56 board.
Note
Do not connect any devices such as USB devices or SxS cards which are not related to the recovery work but the
USB memory of Windows PE.
