Step 3: Installing an NSM
Server

This section describes how to connect a network switch to
the NSM server and install Network System Manager.

Preparing an NSM Server

The server PC on which to install Network System
Manager must meet the following hardware and software
requirements.

Hardware requirements

Software requirements

• For the latest hardware and software requirements

relating to the NSM server, contact your sales
representative.

• Before running the system, make sure Windows Server

2012 R2 (OS) is up to date.

• CAL (Client Access License) is required to access

Windows Server 2012 R2 from a client terminal.
Purchase a CAL as required.

• Install Windows Server 2012 R2 on the C drive.
• Do not install other software on the server PC on which

to install Network System Manager. If installing
software other than Network System Manager, contact
your Sony sales representative.

Connecting a Network Switch to an
NSM Server

Connect the NSM server and network switch using a
network cable (Category 5e or higher). On the network
switch, connect a network cable to the network port of the
10GBASE-T expansion module.
Also, the NSM server and network switch must be
connected using two network cables. The connection
method in cost priority mode varies from that used in
safety priority or uncompressed transmission priority
mode. Connect as shown in the following diagrams.

Configuring Windows Server (OS)

Install Windows Server 2012 on the NSM server, and the
configure the IP addresses and DHCP server.

Setting IP addresses

Use the following procedure to set the IP address of the
NSM server.
Two NICs are required by the NSM server. Set the IP
addresses for both NICs.
