Operating mode information display area
This displays information on the current operating
mode specified using the MODE button (

) and
function buttons (

and
3
). The operating modes
and the information displayed in each mode are listed
in the following table.
In addition to the operating mode display, various dialog
boxes appear in this area as operations require.
Function button function display areas
These areas display the functions currently assigned
to the function buttons (
1
and
3
) to the left of and
below the liquid crystal display. Use the MODE
button (
5
) or SHIFT button (
4
) to change the
displays.

Function (B1 to B7) buttons
These buttons are used to execute the functions
indicated above them (in the function button display
area). If nothing is currently indicated above a button or
the display is dimmed, the button is disabled.

SHIFT button
When this button is depressed, the functions currently
assigned to the function buttons change. You can check
the alternate functions in the function button function
display area. However, whether a buttons is enabled
depends on the operation mode and status.

MODE button
The operating modes of the control panel are the
Material mode (MATERIAL), the Edit mode (EDIT),
the Timer Rec/Play mode (Timer Rec/Play), the Dual
Play mode (Dual Play), and the CP Setup mode (CP
SETUP). Press the MODE button to select the modes.

Pressing this button displays the names of the modes in
the function button function display area, and you can
then select the operating mode using the function
buttons (

).

MULTI (multiple) CONTROL knob
This is used to move the cursor in the GUI of the liquid
crystal display and to input characters when changing
the names of material.
It can also be used to increase or decrease numeric
values input during editing operations (e.g., trimming).

Description of mode and information
shown
This mode offers material management
functions, such as displaying a list of
material on the MAV-777 hard disk,
searching, renaming, deleting, assigning to
ports, and canceling assignments. In this
mode, the following information is displayed.
• List of material
• Indication of active material
• Detailed information about specified items
of material
• Monitor screen
This mode is used to perform editing.
In this mode, the following information is
displayed.
• Name of material being edited
• Stamp pictures of IN and OUT points on
material being edited
• List of timecodes and durations of
specified IN and OUT points
This mode allows you to carry out time
difference functions. Material recordings,
previews, and playbacks are referred to as
timer events. The following information is
displayed for timer events.
• Event list
• Specific event detailed information
• Monitor screen
This mode is used to play back two different
pieces of material simultaneously. Material
settings are referred to as aliases. The
following information is displayed for
aliases.
• Alias list
• Specific alias list detailed information, or
specified port monitor screen
• Monitor screen
This mode is used to make control panel
operation settings, such as set the edit point
input method, LCD brightness, and date
style. Information displayed varies according
to the item being set.
