Rear panel connectors and LEDs
The rear panel provides a connector interface and indictors
from the Motherboard.
The rear panel interface is used to connect the mouse,
keyboard and monitor, which is required to monitor the
boot-up sequence and used to run the diagnostic and
monitoring utilities (see
Chapter 4, Utilities
for details).
The indicators at the rear panel interface are status and
Power On Self Test (POST) diagnostic indicators (see
for a description of LEDs and
Chapter 5, Troubleshooting
for a list of POST error codes
and their meaning).

This Status LED indicates the status of the server.

POST Diagnostic LEDs
(MSB, Bit 2, Bit 1, LSB)
Red = Bit set in upper nibble
Green = Bit set in lower nibble
Amber = Bit set in both nibbles
During the Power On Self Test (POST) the four tri-
colour LEDs will change colour, displaying the currently
active test. When the server has completed its POST
successfully the LEDs are turned off. Should the server
‘hang’ during any test the LEDs will display the point at
which failure has occurred.
