In TIG mode, the arc does not start
CAUSE
SOLUTION
The MMA mode is selected instead of the TIG mode.
Make sure the TIG mode is activated.
The pedal and/or torch remote control is not properly con-
nected.
Check the connection of remote controls.
There is a defect in the welding circuit connection.
Check that torch and earth clamp are properly con-
nected to their respective power outlets. Check the
state of cable connections.
No shielding gas.
Connect shielding gas. Make sure to use the proper
shielding gas.
The electrode is contaminated.
Clean the tungsten electrode. A contaminated elec-
trode can affect the ignition sequence.
The earth connection and torch polarity are incorrect.
Check that the torch is connected to the right connec-
tor and earth clamp to the left.
The workpiece is dirty
Remove dirt or paint chips.
Excessive draught.
Excessive draught can move the shielding gas and af-
fect the arc.
The equipment is set in Lift-Arc mode
Follow the Lift-Arc ignition sequence or select the HF
ignition mode
pre-gas time is excessive
Reduce the pre-gas time
Electrical discharge in the torch
Replace the TIG torch for a new one
Excessive consumption of the tungsten electrode in TIG mode.
CAUSE
SOLUTION
Earth and torch connections interchanged.
Interchange the connection.
Tungsten electrode has been contaminated.
Clean the electrode.
Wrong shielding gas.
Ensure sufficient flow level. Ensure you use inert
shielding gases for TIG welding processes.
Incorrect polarity configuration
Check that you have chosen the polarity according to
the material you are going to weld.
Incorrect balance / offset
Check the set values
Too much amps for the electrode in use
Check the settings and that the electrode that you are
using corresponds with the selected in the machine
The electrode breaks
For TIG AC welding, green or grey electrodes are sui-
table. Other kind of electrodes can become damaged.
In MMA mode, the electrode does not start the arc.
CAUSE
SOLUTION
The TIG mode is selected instead of the MMA mode.
Make sure that the MMA mode is activated.
There is a defect in the welding circuit connection.
Check that electrode holder and earth clamps are pro-
perly connected to the respective power outlets.
Check the state of cable connections.
