SolaMate
HIA GreenSmart Product Award
Congratulations on purchasing a SolaMate solar air heating, cooling and
ventilation system, winner of the HIA GreenSmart product of the year
in 2009. SolaMate will warm your home in winter, cool your home on
summer nights and provide fresh air to your home all year round. You can
now look forward to many years of harvesting free energy and improved
air quality in your home.
We at SolaMate are very proud of our product and we hope that you
enjoy the benefits, energy savings and improved comfort that it can
provide.
SolaMate delivers naturally heated fresh air generated by the sun, or
naturally cool evening air via a set-and-forget controller to make your
home more comfortable for the same running cost of a light globe.
Your home needs fresh air in winter when the doors and windows are
closed and in summer fresh air cooling can be achieved which reduces
reliance on artificial systems. The regular flow of fresh, filtered air creates
a healthy home for your family by reducing dust, pollutants and allergens
by increasing indoor air quality.
Drawing in warm air all day or cool air all night, the SolaMate panels
utilise the thermal mass of a building to stabilise temperature, dramatically
reducing the reliance on resource intensive heating and air conditioning
systems.

Things you can do
There are a number of things that you can do to maximise the
benefits of the SolaMate system to your home:
• Leave the system on “Auto Heat / Cool” mode all the time,
even when you are out of the home. SolaMate will harvest
solar energy even when you are out to maintain your home at
a comfortable temperature.
• Ensure your home is well insulated, particularly ceiling insula
-
tion
• Ensure any uncontrolled draughts under doors or windows are
blocked
• Install automatic draught blocking vents on your ceiling fans
in the kitchen and bathroom(s)
• In the cooler months set your thermostat on your conventional
heating system 2–4ºC degrees below the target temperature
on the SolaMate system. This will ensure the SolaMate system
is operating to its maximum potential and the use of the
alternative heating system is minimised
