VLAN
More and more networks are using VLAN {Virtual Local Area Network tags} to
segment networks. The NetXpert XG2 can detect VLAN IDs {tagged according to
IEEE 8O2.1q} and display the available VLAN information.

The NetXpert XG2 is able to recognize broadcasted VLANs. Using a monitoring port
on a managed switch is recommended. Depending on the configuration of the
switch, it may happen that broadcast packets are not marked with VLAN IDs and thus
no detection can take place.
The VLAN information is output in three columns:
•
ID number of the VLAN
•
DEI {Drop Eligible Indicator} - indicates that frames can be dropped if there is
congestion {formerly CFI}.
•
Priority - Priority information of the user
The list of VLANs can be saved directly in PDF and CSV format.
