BASIC SETTINGS |

 These are positioned as follows: 

Function selector - 0.  



PEEP/CPAP Control - 0.  

Inspiration time 

- 1 second.  



Expiration time - 2 seconds.  



Inspiration Pressure Control - 20 x100Pa (20 cmH

2

O).  

High Pressure Alarm 

Control - 30 x100Pa (30 cmH2O).  

O2 - 50% using the white scale.

AIR AND OXYGEN | 

If Air (black hose) is attached the air supply symbol turns to black and white check. If Oxygen (white hose) 

is attached the Oxygen supply symbol turns to white.

SYSTEM CHECK |

  Move function selection switch to ‘CMV+ACTIVE PEEP’. All the alarm lights flash in turn, a single burst 

of the high priority alarm should sound and the orange silenced indicator should flash for 60 seconds. Check that flow is 
coming from the end of the patient circuit.

INSPIRATORY HIGH PRESSURE CHECK |

 Inspiratory pressure check - Keep the patient circuit occluded and observe a 

reading between 15-25 cmH

2

O on the manometer. NO ALARM SHOULD SOUND! Leave the high pressure alarm control at 30, 

move inspiration pressure control to 40, observe a reading between 25-35 cmH

2

O on the manometer. The pneumatic alarm 

will sound and the red high pressure visual alarm will sound and flash.  Return the inspiration pressure control to 20.

CYCLE CHECK |

 Please check at this point that the babyPAC

 regularly operates about every 3 seconds. Turn the Inspiration/

Expiration dials to their extreme, check that the ventilator has responded and no irregularities occur.

O

OPEN CIRCUIT /LOW PRESSURE CHECK |

 After running the babyPAC for at least 60 seconds, allow the babyPAC

 to cycle 

with no obstruction at the patient circuit end. After approximately 8 seconds the Low Pressure (disconnection) Alarm sounds.

P

PEEP/CPAP CHECK |

 Occlude the patient circuit - Check PEEP - turn the PEEP/CPAP control clockwise to the first click then 

occlude the patient circuit. The manometer should read between 6-14. Set the function dial to IMV+CPAP and the expiratory 
time to 1 second, check that the expiratory time is approximately every 10 seconds.
