protocol type being used by the inbound packets.
Command Usage
To configure protocol-based VLANs, follow these steps:
1. First configure VLAN groups for the protocols you want to use
(page 3-158). Although not mandatory, we suggest configuring a
separate VLAN for each major protocol running on your network.
Do not add port members at this time.
2. Create a protocol group for each of the protocols you want to assign
to a VLAN using the Protocol VLAN Configuration page.
3. Then map the protocol for each interface to the appropriate VLAN
using the Protocol VLAN Port Configuration page.
Configuring Protocol Groups
Create a protocol group for one or more protocols.
Command Attributes
•
Protocol Group ID
– Group identifier of this protocol group.
(Range: 1-2147483647)
•
Frame Type
– Frame type used by this protocol. (Options: Ethernet,
RFC_1042, SNAP_8021h, SNAP_other, LLC_other)
•
Protocol Type
– The only option for the LLC_other frame type is
IPX_raw. The options for all other frames types include: IP, ARP,
RARP.
Web
– Click VLAN, Protocol VLAN, Configuration. Enter a protocol
group ID, frame type and protocol type, then click Apply.
