Hardware Preparation and Installation
2.1 Overview
This chapter provides information on unpacking and inspecting the PCIE-7217 card along
with procedures and safety precautions to follow while handling the card. The
environmental, thermal, and power requirements, and the installation and removal
procedures of the card are also explained in this chapter.
2.2 Unpacking and Inspecting the PCIE-7217 Card
Shipment Inspection
To inspect the shipment, perform the following steps:
1. Verify that you have received all items of your shipment:
– One PCIE-7217 card
– One printed copy of Quick Start Guide
– One printed copy of Safety Notes Summary
– Any optional items ordered
2. Check your shipment and report any damage or differences to the Contact Center at
https://www.smartembedded.com/ec/support/ .
3. Remove the desiccant bag shipped with the card and dispose of it according to your
country’s legislation.
Damage of Circuits
Electrostatic discharge and incorrect installation and removal of the card can
damage circuits or shorten their life. Make sure that you are working in an ESD-safe
environment before touching the card or electronic components.
Make sure the card is thoroughly inspected before installation. If any damage has
