Chapter 1
Introduction
1.1 Overview
This chapter provides a brief overview of the SMART Embedded Computing PCIE-7217
card, its features and applications, hardware and software overviews, standard
compliance, and ordering and support information.
The PCIE-7217 is a high density, PCI Express (PCIe) card with two independent CPU
complexes which is optimized to provide maximum gaming density for Gaming-as-a-
Service (GaaS) and cloud gaming applications in a carrier data center environment.
The MC4100 shelf, combined with one or more PCIE-7217 cards, provides an easily
deployable method for GaaS streaming content. It also offers network scalability for
increased subscribers to pay-as-you-go, adding more cards and density from small to large
servers as needed. The MC4100 has the ability to implement many network connected
servers within the same enclosure.
