10.4 Cleaning the ine ilter for com-
pressed air
See Figure 53
Each aerosol generator in the MQL system
is equipped with a fine filter for compressed
air whose main task is to separate any water
that may be present in the compressed air.
This prevents the contamination of the lu-
bricant with water.
The filter has an automatic condensate
drain, though the filter must be visually in-
spected on a monthly basis and cleaned at
least annually.
Proceed as follows:
CAUTION
System pressure
The refilling reservoir must be
depressurized before refilling with
lubricant.
The aerosol lines (
1
) and the aerosol
generator (
2
) must be purged.
• Activate lubrication program No. 3 (Chap-
ter 8.2.3.6).
• Disconnect the compressed air line from
the system and push the coupling (
3
)
downwards.
or:
Move the slider on the main compressed
air valve downwards.
• Wait until the pressure has been released
via the aerosol outlets (
1
).
• Open the aerosol outlets (possibly via ball
valves) to ensure free release of the res-
ervoir pressure.
Check whether the pressure has been
completely released by briely actuating
the safety valve.
CAUTION
Wear safety goggles and a facial
mask
Aerosol may escape during subse-
quent actuation of the safety valve.
• Briefly actuate the safety valve (
5
) using
the key ring.
• Unscrew the fine filter for compressed air
(
6
) by turning counterclockwise.
• Unscrew the filter mounting (
7
) by turn-
ing counterclockwise.
• Replace the filter element.
• Reassemble the parts in reverse order.
