Testing with the Baker PP30 three-phase test lead power pack
The Baker PP30 power pack is supplied with three-phase test leads. The leads include three
red cables and one black ground cable. All have insulating jackets and are rated at 60kV DC.
A black braided cable is also provided to connect the power pack to the motor frame or
station ground.
The
Test Select
switch—located on the lower front panel—is used to switch between the
different leads during the testing process, energizing the proper lead at the proper time. The
labels on this knob are
1
(test lead 1),
2, 3, HiPot
, and
Leads Ground
.

Using the three-phase test leads, you only need to make one connection to the motor.
NOTICE
The power pack
Function
and
Test Select
switches must be in the HiPot
positions to perform a HiPot test. If the analyzer is not operated in this
fashion, the tests will not be performed correctly, and the data recorded
will be in error.
Do not switch the
Test Select
switch while a test is in progress. The useful
life of the switching element may be substantially reduced.
