System username and passwords
This option enables mariners to manage passwords and protect the Sensor monitor and the
ECDIS system.
Double right click the Window title bar and select
System protection
to display the
Security and system protection
dialog. The system will prompt a dialog similar below:
1 Change user password

Click once to display the
Change password
input dialog
2 Lock/Unlock ECDIS settings
button
Click to lock/unlock the ECDIS settings. When the ECDIS settings are locked, users
cannot modify the following:
•
Ship parameters
•
GPS and radar antenna positions
•
Alarm settings
•
Ship display parameters
•
Safety settings (safety contour, safety depth, safety height, deep contour)
•
Console options
To unlock and modify the ECDIS settings, enter the correct password and click OK.
3 Lock Sensor Monitor settings

Click to lock/unlock the Sensor monitor settings. When the Sensor monitor settings are
locked, users cannot add new sensors and modify the settings.
To unlock the Sensor monitor settings, enter the correct password and click OK.
4 Close
button
Click to close the
Security and system protection
dialog

Note:
There is no default password after the ECDIS900 has been installed. It is strongly
recommended that after the ECDIS is configured, passwords should be added and the
ability to change configuration settings should be tightly controlled. This will help ensure
the operational reliability and security of the ECDIS and supporting systems.
